Does a laundry need waterproofing?
Under the National Construction Code a laundry floor must be water resistant, and so must the wall and floor junctions. In South Australia the wall around the washing machine taps must also be water resistant, and walls within 75 mm of a tub need water resistance to 150 mm above it. Can you move the laundry to a different wall or room?
Yes. Moving a laundry means new water supply and drainage, and on a concrete slab that usually means cutting the concrete, so it costs more than keeping the washing machine, tub and drainage where they are. We'll tell you honestly whether the move is worth it when we quote.
